ACQUISITION

Any protocol using a serial port will be available for serial devices which are Windows-compatible, such as multi-port boards [RS232C, RS422, RS485] or serial to Ethernet products.

ACQUISITION BY OPC SERVER

If the “SUPPORT” column indicates “OPC Server”, you must acquire an appropriate OPC Server, not supplied with TOPKAPI.

OPC SERVER

TOPKAPI can be used as an OPC Server for each of the protocols listed hereafter. Regarding protocols for which “OPC Server” is mentioned in the “SUPPORT” column, this generally has no interest (except in special cases) as we otherwise have an OPC Server. For protocols with time-stamped data, TOPKAPI provides built-in modem management and historical data storage in any SQL compliant DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).

GATEWAY FUNCTION

TOPKAPI can be used as Gateway between several systems using distinct protocols.

The information below is applicable for the supply of the current TOPKAPI version. A version update may be required when adding a new protocol driver to an old TOPKAPI version, for technical or support reasons.

Languages: Engl for English, Sp for Spanish, Fr for French.

In Spanish, if this language is not available, the English driver is installed, but it is also possible to install manually the French version of the driver.

Depending on requirements, new protocols can be translated.

N.B. : All the protocols with real-time and time-stamped data, without intermediary front end with a modem management, need a modem management library.

Many OPC Servers or DDE servers are also available, and AREAL develops protocols according to your requirements.

Version:

32 means that the protocol is fully compatible.

16 means that a thunk layer has been developed ; the protocol 16 bits works with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT. Port numbers available for 16 bits drivers are 1 to 10 (Windows 9x) and 1 to 9 (Windows NT).
